2. Quite different than the usual Odetta album – and a record that has the folk singer running through some hipper more modern numbers, often with a bit of a funky twist! Some tracks were recorded in Muscle Shoals with a small combo that includes Roger Hawkins, Eddie Hinton, and Jimmy Johnson LP, Vinyl record albumMissing: Santy Anno.

4. A wonderful album in which Odetta is accompanied by Larry Mohr. A whole mix of songs from belting blues to spirituals, some comic numbers, and even the Car-Car song. Odetta at her early best. Odetta's voice is so rich and powerful and full of emotion.

On this CD, originally issued as an LP in , the great folksinger Odetta, who in that day hung out with Harry Belafonte and performed the songs of Dylan, Guthrie and other folk/protest composers, got with jazz producer Orrin Keepnews to make a blues record for the Riverside label, which was famous for jazz and lesser-known for folk releases/5(22).

7. To my knowledge, ODETTA SINGS was never reissued in any form. I have only seen a cassette copy once, and my LP is the only vinyl copy I've ever seen. I've often wondered if the master is a lost recording! Let's hope somebody reads these reviews, digs the master tape up from some vault and lovingly remasters it for a CD release -- maybe there /5(14).
